Duo-Gard is celebrating 25 years of innovation. Why should you care?

And admit it: aren't you tired of the word "innovation"? We were too. Until we tried to find a better one to describe Duo-Gard's first 25 years. We gave up. So...here's the elevator speech.  Duo-Gard is a leading innovator in high-performance translucent daylighting systems and strategies, illuminated walls and ceilings, as well as custom canopies, shelters and outdoor structures. Our design team, engineers, fabricators and installers are experts in advanced polycarbonate technology. We custom design/build around your specs.

Green? Duo-Gard was "green" long before the concept colored the world of architecture and design.

The innovation began in 1984 with a patented polycarbonate system designed to save energy without sacrificing natural light by overglazing existing glass. Designed by my dad, Al Miller, Duo-Gard's founder.

It continued as we designed daylighting systems for new construction and major renovation, employing fast-changing polycarbonate technology and educating architects about the advantages. It worked. Today we produce the industry's widest range of systems, integrating technologies from around the world.

It continued in 1990 when founder Al Miller introduced the world's first structure specifically designed as a smoking shelter to provide a long-term solution to a growing issue. Our innovation here led us to the design and production of custom transit shelters and canopies. Today we're a leader in both industries.

It continued in 2006 as we introduced illumaWALL by Duo-Gard, a combination of translucent glazing, framing and programmable LED lighting - all in one single, integrated plug-and-play package. It was named an Outstanding Architectural Product by both Architectural Record and Buildings magazines.
