Duo-Gard's Vibrant Custom Shelter Proves Product Longevity |
We love collaborating with artists on custom projects, creating something beautiful and functional. This shelter in Minneapolis is a community beacon and has been nicknamed “Blossoms of Hope” after surviving a major tornado in spring 2011, just weeks after installation. Thirteen years later, the shelter still stands as a gateway to Minneapolis’s north side. When a car crashed into the shelter late last year the city reached out to us to repair the damage. We are grateful to the Metro Council of Minneapolis for their loyalty and the strong relationship that they maintain with Duo-Gard.
The 10-sided shelter features tempered glass walls and a metal roof with Kynar finish. The 10-foot steel flowers, provided by a local Minneapolis company SignMinds, feature large stems that go through precise openings that were expertly engineered by Duo-Gard’s team. Proving yet again that if you can dream it we can build it. Artist: Marjorie Pitz Collaborator/owner: Metro Council of Minneapolis |
